My hubby was doing the grocery shopping and saw cucumbers on sale and it reminded him of one his favorite sandwiches from Pret a Manger. He found the rest of the ingredients and made this scrumptious sandwich.
This sandwich reminded me how much I love alfalfa and I definitely need to look into growing my own. I heard it's pretty easy. If you've ever done it, I'd love it if you'd share your experience with me!
Ingredients:
- 1 can of tuna
- 1 baguette
- Mayo
- 1 hard boiled egg
- Cucumber
- Alfalfa sprouts
Directions:
- Open and drain the tuna and mix it with mayo until it reaches your desired consistency. For me, it usually takes about 2 huge spoonfuls.
- Slice the bread in half and spread the tuna on the bottom half.
- Add a handful of sprouts on top of the tuna.
- Place a row of sliced cucumbers on top of the alfalfa sprouts.
- Place a row of sliced eggs on top of the cucumbers.
- Put the top half of the baguette on top.
- Enjoy.

Oh this has many of my favorite things... tuna AND egg?? and sprouts?? and baguette?? YUM YUM YUM!!!!
Great idea for spicing up a boring tuna sandwich. I also love sprouts on a sandwich YUM! I also usually add a hard boiled egg to my tuna and mix it in with the mayo. It is really good, you should try it.
i am a HUGE fan of sprouts and cucumbers in a sandwich. they really add good flavors but not too overbearing.
Wonderful and delicious! A new lunch idea - easy to make at work. Thanks!
I love tuna sandwiches!! I never had egg with my tuna! It looks delicious!
My coworker recently became a sprout farmer in her small apartment haha. I just picked up a wide mouth mason jar to start my own farm. She says it's wicked easy!! And they taste AMAZING!!
Sounds unusual indeed with the addition of alfalfa sprouts.
Cheers,
elra
Hey, you just need to get alfalfa seeds and sprout them. I talk about sprouting at my site pantryeats.blogspot.com.
That sandwich look delish.
hey,I'm just such a fan of tuna sandwich and alfalfa (never had it together!!..but sure I'll try it).
thanks for reminding me such nice recipe
yum! I love that you added sprouts into this. what a nice crunchy addition!
I say baguette is the BEST sammie bread ever.
I love a good tuna sandwich. I tend to put all kinds of things in my tuna though; mayo, chili sauce, scallions, celery salt, a little black pepper, and diced bread-and-butter pickles. It's got a little of everything: sweet, salty, a tiny bit of spice. Mmm. Tuna melts...you made me want one for breakfast!
This could easily become my favorite tuna sandwich! I love sprouts on a sandwich, and this looks great.
One of my fav sandwiches too! I've heard Pret is pretty good but have yet to go there. How I wish I was having a slice right now ..
This sandwich reminds me that I'm hungry. :) Great looking sandwich!
LOVE!
I always add eggs to my tuna, and sometimes even white rice.
I also like to add tomatoes and olives. You are making me hungry :)
How interesting. I've never thought of rice or olives!
